WINNIPEG — Manitoba’s Liberal party would ban LGBTQ* conversion therapy if elected to form the next provincial government.
Leader Rana Bokhari says the therapy represents a serious threat to the health and well-being of those affected.
“We need to send a clear message that all people are welcomed and treated with dignity here in Manitoba,” Bokhari said. “The facts are clear: So-called ‘conversion therapy’ harms LGBTQ* youth and sends a terrible message of intolerance. That’s why we will ban this practice.”
Bokhari says her party will continue to take steps towards building a more accepting and inclusive province.
