WINNIPEG — The city has closed the Alexander Dock to public access due to safety concerns.
The underside of the wooden dock was assessed over the winter and found to be unsafe by engineers.
The dock is located at Alexander Avenue and Waterfront Drive and has acted a memorial for Tina Fontaine. The city says it has been in contact with Chief Henderson of the Sagkeeng First Nation to ensure the memorial is respectfully moved to another location.
The city will be placing fencing and barricades around the dock to prevent public access.
