A Winnipeg group dedicated to reuniting pet owners with their lost dogs is holding their third annual fundraiser this week.
Winnipeg Lost Dog Alert uses their website to take reports of lost dogs, loose dogs and even dogs that have been found.
“It was plain to see how many people were posting pictures of lost animals on social media, and we figured we needed somewhere to bring them all together, something that would serve as a pseudo-database of missing dogs, so in the case someone finds a lost dog, they can help get it back to its family,” said Janelle McLeod, event organizer of the service.
“We hope to continue to be a presence in the city, and by receiving support through this fundraiser, we will be able to continue to do good work, and bring our dog’s home.”
The fundraiser will be held Saturday, April 25 at the Viscount Gort Hotel, 1670 Portage Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be on-site microchipping, a bake sale, silent auction, and treats for furry friends. All dogs are welcome to attend (with their owners, of course).
