IKEA Mattress Recall

IKEA is recalling a number of crib mattresses after a SULTAN-style mattress was found to be non-compliant. (CNW GROUP / IKEA CANADA)

IKEA Canada has issued a precautionary recall on its SULTAN crib mattresses.

The Swedish furniture giant says there hasn’t been any reported incidents or injuries as a result of the mattresses, but customers are being urged to measure the gap between the mattress and crib to ensure the gap is not greater than 3 cm. The recall is being initiated as a result of one SULTAN crib mattress being found to be non-compliant.

How to measure gap:

  • Let new mattresses air for 72 hours after unpacking. It takes 3-4 days for the mattress to assume its proper shape and volume.
  • Remove all bedding, for example fitted sheets.
  • Check any gap using a measuring tape.
  • There should not be a gap greater than 3 cm when the mattress is pushed firmly against any side of the crib

Affected models include (product name/article number):

SULTAN BLUNDA matt 70×132 white CA — 900.310.59
SULTAN DRÖMMA spr matt CF — 800.312.10
SULTAN DRÖMMA N spr matt 70×132 white/blue CA — 000.820.34
SULTAN SNARKA matt 70×132 white CA — 400.989.38
SULTAN SUSSA matt 70×132 light blue CA — 600.994.61

IKEA is asking all customers who find a greater than 3 cm gap to contact the returns and exchange department at their local store or to call customer service at 1-800-661-9807 for an exchange or refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required by IKEA for this recall.
