Manitoba is encouraging farmers across the province to register for the sixth annual Open Farm Day.

The event is an opportunity for farms to open themselves up to the public and provide a glimpse into how they’re managed.

“It’s also a chance for farmers and others with farm-based businesses to reach new customers, creating opportunities for economic growth and diversification,” said Agriculture, Food and Rural Development Minister Ron Kostyshyn.

The deadline for farms to register is June 1. Host farms will be provided with signs, posters and brochures, with the opportunity to be featured in videos that can be used for additional marketing purposes.

This year’s Open Farm Day is September 20. Last year, 47 farms participated and attracted more than 8,000 visitors.
