Teens Charged in River Heights Vehicle Break-Ins

Winnipeg Police CrestCharges have been laid against two teens accused of breaking into vehicles in the River Heights neighbourhood.

Winnipeg police were called Wednesday morning at around 1:30 a.m. to the 300 block of Montrose Avenue for the report of two males breaking into a vehicle.

The two suspects were arrested a short time later near Elm Street at Academy Road.

Police say the teens had earlier broken into other vehicles in the 200 block of Waverley Street and stolen loose change.

Charged are a 16-year-old and 17-year-old boy, both from Winnipeg. They have been charged with three counts each of theft under $5,000, three counts of mischief under $5,000 and possession of break-in instruments.

The younger teen has also been charged with failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking and three counts of tampering with a motor vehicle.
