Winnipeg Man Dies After Hit and Run in the Maples

Winnipeg Police CrestA 22-year-old man struck by a vehicle in a hit and run in the Maples over the weekend has died.

Winnipeg police responded to the area of Inkster Avenue and Bunting Street at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, where they found the victim unconscious.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.

Police say they have identified him, but didn’t release a name. Social media tributes identified the man as Chris Nero.

A description of the vehicle that hit the man wasn’t available, but police say it will have significant front damage, particularly to the windshield.
