WINNIPEG — The city will reopen the Elmwood Kildonans Pool on Saturday, May 9 after it closed a year ago due to an electrical fire.

The pool at 909 Concordia sustained extensive damage, which also turned up cracks along the pool tank walls when structural engineers inspected the facility.

Insurance covered the estimated $1.2 million repairs related to the fire. The structural repairs cost approximately $200,000.

Regular programming at the pool will resume June 15, and swimming lessons will begin in July.
