Time to dig out your unwanted goods from the basement and chuck them to the curb.

Winnipeg’s first giveaway weekend of the year is this Saturday and Sunday, giving residents the opportunity to haul their unwanted items to the roadside for someone who may appreciate them more.

The city says to slap a sticker or label reading “free” on any item you no longer want and place it at the curb on your front street.

Items not picked up should be removed by dusk on Sunday. Items you don’t want taken should be stored out of sight.

Example items for a giveaway could include books, CDs, DVDs, furniture, sports equipment, kitchen gadgets, unwanted gifts, clothing and construction material.

Information on items that aren’t safe to give away, such as baby walkers and lawn darts, can be found by visiting the Consumer Product Safety Bureau.
