Assiniboine Park to Screen Avengers, The Hunger Games

WINNIPEG — The sounds of summer are returning to Assiniboine Park this year, with the list of movies and concerts announced on Wednesday.

More than 30 events are scheduled for the summer, including music at the Lyric Theatre, jazz in the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden, art exhibits in the Pavilion Gallery Museum, and Movies in the Park.

What’s on musically?

Thursday, June 25 — Winnipeg Pops Orchestra
Friday, July 3 — Streetheart
Thursday, July 16 — Ron Paley Big Band
Friday, July 10 — Ultimate Escape (Journey tribute band)
Thursday, August 13 — Ron Paley Big Band
Friday, July 17 — Liona Boyd

The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra performs on June 28 and Ballet in the Park with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet runs from July 29-31.

Movies in the Park

Showtimes are 7 p.m and late features run at 9:15 p.m.

August 7 — Big Hero 6 & Theory of Everything
August 14 — Finding Nemo & Tomorrowland
August 21 — Cinderella & Avengers: Age of Ultron
August 28 — Home & The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1
