RCMP are pursuing new leads in the unsolved homicide of a man from Faulker, Manitoba, who went missing in 1985.

The remains of Michael Kalanza were found at the old Spearhill limestone quarry site by a group of Grade 9 students on a field trip in 1997.

After using new DNA technology and resampling evidence, RCMP are back at the site today conducting another forensic search of the area.

New information has also been obtained through reaching out to the community.

RCMP say investigators are continually looking into historical cases to see if a re-examination or further testing with advanced technology could possibly provide new leads.

RCMP are asking anyone with information to contact the RCMP Historical Case Unit tip line at (204) 984-6447 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
