Construction is underway at a new long-term care facility in Morden.
The Manitoba government and local community are putting in a combined $38 million to the 77,319-square-foot Tabor Home.
Once complete, the new facility will feature larger single-resident bedrooms with private washrooms and a variety of spaces for dining, recreation and large gatherings. The hallways are designed to promote walking, encourage social interaction and provide direct access to protected outside spaces.
“This new, modern facility will help meet the region’s growing need for personal care services and will enhance the working environment for staff to provide the best possible care to our deserving seniors,” said Kathy McPhail, CEO of Southern Health-Santé Sud.
It will be located on the east side of Morden, adjacent to Highway 3, and will replace the existing facility that was built in 1968 and expanded in 1984.
Construction is expected to be completed in the spring of 2017.
