May 24, 2015 12:17 PM | News

Sunday Bike RouteMotorists who frequently travel on a select number of Winnipeg streets will need to pay extra attention or risk being handed a fine.

A new by-law prohibits drivers from travelling more than one block on portions of Wellington Crescent, Wolseley Avenue, Lyndale Drive and Scotia Street as part of the Sunday/holiday bicycle route.

Winnipeg police were out on Sunday educating motorists of the changes to help them avoid a future $92 fine.

The rules are in effect from the Sunday preceding Victoria Day to Thanksgiving Day Monday, inclusive, and include all Sundays and statutory holidays between these two dates, regardless of weather.

The time of the closures are between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Signs will be posted in the areas and barricades will no longer be placed on the roadway.

More information on the by-law is available on Winnipeg.ca.
