Arts in the ParkWINNIPEG — Kildonan Park will be turned into a giant arts festival the next three days to celebrating creativity and expression.

More than 9,000 students from the Seven Oaks School Division are holding the seventh Arts in the Park celebration today until Friday.

“It’s a great opportunity for our students to showcase their talents not only to the public, but to their peers. Every student has the chance to share what they have been working on with other students and their teachers; it really promotes the positive benefits of the arts,” said Tyler Yip, the festival’s coordinator.

The three-day, two-night event is free to attend and will include musical performances such as vocal jazz groups, choirs, concert bands, jazz bands, rock bands, hip hop, bhangra (a genre of Punjabi music) and fiddling.

The festival will also feature drama, dance, visual arts and movies, all created and presented by the students.

The festival is located in the north fields of the park and runs the following times:

Wednesday, May 27 — 9:55 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Thursday, May 28 — 9:40 a.m. to 2:05 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday, May 29 — 9:55 a.m. to 2 p.m.
