An event put on by CAA Manitoba on Sunday will aim to keep maturing drivers behind the wheel, while keeping safety in mind.
The auto club has teamed up with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapist for the first-ever CarFit.
“It is important to older adults to maintain their independence, and driving is a big part of that,” said Angèle Young, public and government affairs specialist for CAA Manitoba. “Cars are not one-size-fits-all. There is a lot you can do to adapt a vehicle to compensate for physical and cognitive changes as you age.”
Driver assessments will be handled by appointment only. Limit spots are available by signing up online.
CarFit will be held May 21 from noon to 3 p.m. at CAA’s St. Anne’s service centre, 501 St. Anne’s Road.
