WINNIPEG — Two 10-month-old harbour seals are now calling Assiniboine Park Zoo home.
The seals — from Germany — join Neptune, another harbour seal, in the underwater tunnels at Journey to Churchill’s Gateway to the Arctic building.
“All of us at the Assiniboine Park Zoo are thrilled to welcome Anton and Emil and we can’t wait to have the community come and visit them,” said Dr. Brian Joseph, director of zoological operations at Assiniboine Park Zoo.
“Visitors will be inspired by these beautiful creatures and will also take home a better understanding of the role they play in our natural world.”
To celebrate their arrival, the first 500 visitors to the zoo today, Saturday and Sunday will receive a free seal pin from the Journey to Churchill collection.
The zoo is open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
