Three people have been charged after a jewellery store was robbed in south Winnipeg on Tuesday.
An armed man concealing his identity held up the store in the 2000 block of Pembina Highway at around 4:30 p.m. The clerk was confronted before the man allegedly demanded merchandise, smashed the display case and stole a large quantity of jewellery.
The clerk remotely locked the front doors and the man was unable to leave. He eventually did exit the store and got into a Ford Edge.
Officers caught up with the suspects and the vehicle shortly after 10 p.m. in the area of Provencher Boulevard and Tache Avenue. Two people were taken into custody, and a third suspect was arrested at a home on Doucet Street.
Robert Sauer, 24, Madeline Wight, 22, and John Stengel, 29, face numerous firearm and robbery-related charges.
All three suspects remain in custody.
