Winnipeg Men to Be Honoured for Saving Boater’s Life

June 12, 2015 9:23 AM | News

Canadian Red CrossTwo men will be honoured on Saturday for rescuing a boater last July in Manitoba’s Nopiming Provincial Park.

Winnipeg’s Jason Gray and Sean Forsyth came across the man on Shoe Lake in a life-threatening situation when his watercraft flipped and became submerged.

The two paddled to the man and pulled him to safety after he began ingesting water. He was able to safely recover on the shore.

The Canadian Red Cross will recognize Gray and Forsyth for their humanity at the Power of Community event at the Susan Auch speedskating oval.

The event brings together families to learn important water and summer safety tips in an entertaining and interactive fashion. Families will be able to take part in hands-on activities to learn more about being safe in the water and while having fun outdoors this summer.

The event runs from noon to 3 p.m. at 999 Sargent Avenue.
