About 540 walkers will take to Winnipeg’s streets on Saturday in support of the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

The annual Challenge for Life 20K Walk will begin and end at Assiniboine Park, taking walkers through some of the city’s most historic neighbourhoods.

Entertainment will be provided at six check stops to help motivate participants. The walk begins at 9 a.m., with walkers expected to start crossing the finish line at 11:30 a.m.

Since the inaugural walk in 2008, more than $8 million has been raised, benefiting patient services, treatment, support and research throughout the province.

The fundraising total from this year’s event will be announced during the closing ceremonies at the Lyric Stage at 2 p.m.
