WINNIPEG — The new K-8 school and early learning child care centre in South Pointe now has a name.
École South Pointe School will be the $30 million school located at 615 Kirkbridge Drive. Construction is already underway.
Pembina Trails School Division says the name comes after public consultation, research and numerous deliberations. Local historian and First Nations groups were also consulted.
“This is a brand new community,” said Tim Johnson, board of trustees chair. “We chose the name keeping in mind that our new school will be the first public building in the area. We feel we have the unique opportunity to lead this neighborhood’s identity through the school.”
