First Solar Mobile Charging Station at The Forks

The Forks is now home to Canada’s first solar-powered mobile charging station.

The stand-alone station is located outside of the Tower Atrium and is a product of Winnipeg-based Sycamore Energy Inc.

“As part of our Target Zero goals, we are working towards reducing our impact on the earth and this is one more innovation that gets us closer,” said Paul Jordan, CEO of The Forks. “People are always looking for places to plug in their devices and now they can while using solar energy.”

Solar panels provide enough power to charge up to six devices at a time, and work both day or night. During the day, three monocrystaline solar panels collect the sun’s energy to charge up powerful internal batteries.

“The Solar Street Charger is a timely product to be introducing to the Canadian marketplace,” said Justin Phillips, president of Sycamore. “This is the modern phone booth and Sycamore is excited to fill such an important public need.”
