Boy, 8, Drowns on Manitoba First Nation

RCMP Crest LogoAn eight-year-old boy has drowned on a Manitoba first nation.

The drowning on June 4 happened in St. Theresa Point when a group of community children were playing on a rope swing. The boy slipped and fell into the water, unable to get back to shore.

The local band constable, who is also a trained search and rescue diver, located the boy’s body and brought it to the surface.

No charges are expected, but the investigation is ongoing.

The boy’s name isn’t being released.
