Program to Link Manitobans with a Doctor on Track: Health Minister

Doctor StethoscopeWINNIPEG — What began as a pilot program in 2013 has now linked nearly 29,000 Manitobans with a family doctor.

The Family Doctor Finder provides Manitobans with an easy way to be connected with a family doctor or nurse practitioner with both online and phone options available.

“We have a record number of doctors in Manitoba, which is allowing more and more Manitobans to have their own family doctor,” said Health Minister Sharon Blady.

The program has consistently matched between 80 to 85 percent of registrants without a provider within 30 days of registration. It has also been credited with connecting more than 4,800 people who already had a family doctor with a new primary care provider.

Representatives from the program will be contacting some of those who registered to get their feedback and suggestions on how to improve on the system in the future.
