WINNIPEG — The FIFA Women’s World Cup would have had a clean slate security-wise if it wasn’t for a 15-year-old boy from Dufresne, Manitoba.
During Monday’s game between China and New Zealand, the teen ran onto the field during play and was chased by security personnel.
He was eventually caught after initially darting past and outrunning on-field staff.
The teen is facing a charge of mischief and was released on a promise to appear.
Winnipeg hosted seven matches between June 8-16, drawing in more than 85,000 fans.
