The Transportation Safety Board has deployed a team to Winnipeg’s James Richardson International Airport after an incident on Wednesday.
The pilot of a Beech King Air 200 aircraft noticed smoke coming from the plane at around 2 p.m. The Winnipeg Airports Authority’s own firefighters responded and had the situation contained roughly an hour later.
WAA spokesperson Breanne Talbot says all passengers and crew were evacuated safely and the aircraft was towed to the hangar.
The aircraft — operated by Missinippi Airways — was taxiing for takeoff at the time of the incident.
No further details are available and the TSB continues to investigate.
