The University of Winnipeg’s athletic director has called it a career.

Doran Reid is retiring after more than 27 years of service to Wesmen Athletics to explore opportunities in Ottawa.

“I have enjoyed my many years at the University of Winnipeg as both a student and as a staff member,” Reid said in a release.

“It’s the friendly, helpful attitude of the people on our campus that has helped us make a difference in so many student athlete’s and community youth’s lives. That has been very rewarding and I will miss all of the students, staff and faculty that have been such a big part of my life.”

Dave Cook, former coach and currently manager of marketing and sponsorship for Wesmen Athletics, will assume the role of acting athletic director effective July 1.

A farewell reception to Doran Reid will take place Tuesday, July 23 from 2-4 p.m. in the Thomas Sill multi-purpose room on the second floor of the U of W’s Rec-Plex. Light refreshments will be served and the public is welcome to attend.
