WINNIPEG — The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre reported a surplus at its annual general meeting Wednesday evening, but attendance to the theatre is down.
About 1,500 fewer tickets were told during the 2014-15 season compared to last year. On the plus side of things, Royal MTC had a surplus of $182,000 to its budget of $9 million.
“This past year reminded us that it takes a remarkable amount of teamwork to bring each season to life and I want to recognize each of our partners, donors, volunteers, artists, designers and staff members for their continued dedication and support for our theatre,” said Jim McLandress, chair of the board of trustees.
The theatre attracted 97,130 patrons to performances at the Mainstage and 17,749 people to the Warehouse in addition to 1,517 students who attended four Theatre for Young Audiences performances. Royal MTC’s total ticketed attendance was 116,396.
