Companion Volunteers Sought for Manitoba Summer Camp

June 26, 2015 8:30 AM | News

Camp QualityA summer camp meant to ease the minds of children living with cancer is in desperate needs of volunteers.

Camp Quality, which is supported by Variety, the Children’s Charity of Manitoba, provides a one-week camp getaway for children every August on Brereton Lake within Whiteshell Provincial Park.

For the 11th year of the camp, more children than ever before are expected to attend. The problem? Not enough volunteers.

“They (Camp Quality) hope that you, a family member, or someone you know, who will enjoy a week in the great outdoors as a much needed adult volunteer, will step forward,” said Variety CEO Jerry Maslowsky.

Maslowsky compared the camp to an all-inclusive resort. Sort of. The camp provides all transportation, three meals per day, plenty of snacks and endless activities.

Volunteers must be 18+ and will undergo a police record check and one day of training. This year’s camp is August 16-21.
