Dauphin RCMP Officer Charged with Theft

RCMP Crest LogoA Dauphin RCMP officer is charged with allegedly having two firearms not belonging to him at his personal residence.

Cpl. Jason Prettie was arrested on Thursday at the Dauphin RCMP detachment.

Police began their investigation on March 30 after receiving a report Prettie was in possession of two weapons that had been in RCMP custody in 2009 when he worked in Minnedosa.

A rifle and shotgun were found by RCMP during their search of his home.

Prettie been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of obstructing justice and two counts of possession of a weapon obtained by commission of an offence.

He is suspended with pay and will make his first court appearance on June 30.
