Winnipeg-born Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews will be the face of a new 10-week campaign in support of The Winnipeg Foundation.

The Foundation is building the Nourishing Potential Fund, which grants community organizations to provide healthy meals, cooking training and food information to young Winnipeggers.

“We’re thrilled to have Jonathan get behind this initiative as a donor and ambassador,” said Foundation’s CEO Rick Frost. “He’s a sports superstar and an inspiring figure in our community. He sends a great message about the power of healthy eating.”

Toews will be feature in short videos, print ads and social media promotions to help the new fund reach its goal of $5 million.

From now until Labour Day, people can support the fund online, in person at the Foundation office or any branch of Assiniboine Credit Union, or by texting GOAL to 45678.
