Winnipeg has bested Calgary again to take back the title of having the largest living flag.

The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ assembled 3,850 Winnipeggers on Canada Day at Shaw Park to create the fifth annual flag.

“Our flag was made up of people from all walks of life – a real multicultural mosaic and snapshot truly representative of our downtown community,” said Stefano Grande, executive director of the Downtown BIZ. “Not only did our living flag look bigger than last year, we showed just how much civic pride and love we have for our city.”

Calgary placed second with 3,000 people, followed by Victoria at 2,500, with Ottawa and Brandon trailing at 500 each.
