A beefy male dance troupe from Australia made a stop to deliver crates of pickles to a local food bank on Friday.

Winnipeg Harvest received the crates from Elman’s on Jarvis Avenue with the help of the guys from Thunder From Down Under.

The dancers are in the city for a performance Saturday at the Club Regent Event Centre.

“One of my all-time favourite quotes is, ‘When you learn, teach! When you get, give!’ And who better to share the giving experience with us, than our mates from Down Under. Sharing and caring for the benefit of others is truly awesome,” said Millie Krause, president and owner of Elman’s.

Donations to Winnipeg Harvest typically slow down in the summer, said the organization’s executive director, David Northcott.

“While most of us will be enjoying summertime fun, the reality is some struggle to feed themselves,” he said.

Elman’s, who specialize in pickles and other kosher deli foods, wanted to help the food shortage crunch by making the large donation.
