WINNIPEG — Butterflies are the key attraction to Assiniboine Park Zoo today as Butterfly Safari Week gets underway.
The Shirley Richardson Butterfly Garden is hosting extra activities for zoo visitors until Sunday, August 23, where guests can feed butterflies or making themselves a butterfly ring to remember their experience.
“The Shirley Richardson Butterfly Garden is a beautiful space to explore and learn about these amazing creatures,” said Janice Martin, Assiniboine Park Zoo curator.
“The Butterfly Safari is a great opportunity for visitors of all ages to bring their family and friends and get close to butterflies in a whole new way.”
The butterfly feeding experience will run daily at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. A butterfly craft station will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.
Besides Butterfly Safari Week, the 2015 Garden Party fundraising event is Wednesday, August 19 in the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden. The evening will include a very special butterfly release opportunity for guests.
