WINNIPEG — There was some heat, rain and plenty of other cool ways to chill at the first-ever Interstellar Rodeo on Saturday.
The musical festival at The Forks hosted its first full day of its three-day run after headliner Sarah McLachlan performed on Friday night. The verdict on her show? “Awesome” and “she killed it,” depending on who you ask.
The event also includes the likes of Steve Earle, Vance Joy and Blue Rodeo, just to name a few.
Interstellar Rodeo got its start in Edmonton, but Winnipeg’s version has a unique feel to it. Paired with wine offerings to match your favourite artists, the festival is also home to several food carts, including Stella’s.
There also doesn’t appear to be a bad seat in the house — or in front of Scotiabank stage — as festival-goers can perch themselves on the hillside north of the parkade and Inn at The Forks.
What are a few things you may want to bring before going? A lawn chair, refillable water bottle, a hat and sunscreen. The good news is Saturday’s temperature won’t rival what’s in store for Sunday, with the daytime high sitting in the low 20s.
