Angler Pulled from Red River Dies in Hospital

Winnipeg Police CrestWINNIPEG — An elderly man who was fishing Sunday morning died after falling into the Red River.

Police were called to the area of the Norwood Bridge at around 11 a.m. when the man’s friend was unable to locate him. The two had been planning to fish on the riverbank when the victim went under.

Divers found the man and rushed him to hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

His name isn’t being released and police continue to investigate.
