The owner of a stolen pickup truck jumped in its box before a woman took off with his ride.
The Dauphin man was working in his yard at around 9:30 p.m. on August 27 when he heard his truck start up. He saw a woman behind the wheel starting to drive away and jumped in the back.
While riding in the box, he called 911 before the truck smashed into a hydro pole. Neither the woman, nor victim were injured, but the truck was heavily damaged.
Samantha Jessica Chartrand, 30, of Dauphin has been charged with numerous criminal offences, as well as impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample.
She remains in custody and will appear in Dauphin court on September 15.
