WINNIPEG — New safety and security measures at MTS Centre will see fans having to walk through a metal detector while attending events.
True North Sports & Entertainment says the new procedures will be in effect for the 2015-16 hockey season, including all Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose games, and all other events at the arena.
Pat-downs and hand-held wands will be used only in unique secondary screening circumstances, True North says.
Security staff will still perform searches of all bags entering MTS Centre.
“These new security measures are consistent with those in effect at all other NHL venues, as well as NBA, MLB and NFL facilities,” a statement read.
