For the second time in a week, human remains have been discovered in Leaf Rapids.
RCMP in the northern Manitoba community responded Thursday after civilian searchers found the remains of a body.
“We are not in a position to confirm the identity of the remains at this time, pending further forensic examination and investigative steps to ensure certainty,” said Sgt. Bert Paquet of the Manitoba RCMP.
“Investigators have already been in contact with those believed to be the family of the deceased and remain dedicated to bring them closure as soon as possible.”
Foul play is not suspected and police continue to investigate.
Last Sunday, human remains were found off a trail in the same vicinity.
