WINNIPEG — WestJet is set to announce non-stop air service from several major Canadian cities to London’s Gatwick Airport.
The Calgary-based airline has scheduled simultaneous press conferences for Tuesday in Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, St. John’s, Vancouver and Toronto.
The media advisory teases an invite for “high tea” for the announcement of “an exciting non-stop route.”
The website airlineroute.net first reported the news, saying WestJet will announce plans for the Boeing 767-300ER aircraft to operate the routes beginning in May 2016.
Winnipeg will see one weekly flight depart for London starting May 7, with St. John’s and Toronto getting one daily flight to the destination.
Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton will see five weekly, six weekly, and two weekly flights, respectively.
