Winnipeg police have a charged a woman accused of abducting her son on Saturday morning.

Charlotte McMahon, 35, was last seen with her son, Tristan, 12, in the St. James area near Ness Avenue and Sturgeon Road. Police had originally put out a missing persons alert for the two before issuing a Canada-wide warrant for McMahon’s arrest.

The pair was safely located Sunday in Manigotagan, Manitoba, about 190 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.

McMahon has been charged with abduction under a no custody order and remains in custody.

Police say a tip from the public and the help of RCMP resulted in the arrest.
