WINNIPEG — The former president of Université de Saint-Boniface is set to be invested into the Order of Canada.
Raymonde Gagné is one of 35 people in the members category to receive the honour, along with nine officer recipients.
As president of Université de Saint-Boniface, Gagné broadened the range of post-secondary educational opportunities in French. She is responsible for the university college obtaining full university status, as well as for the construction of the health sciences pavilion.
She will be recognized during a ceremony in Ottawa on Wednesday, presided by Governor General David Johnston.
Gagné stepped down from her administrative role at the university on June 30, 2014, after 11 years in the position. She was the university’s 45th president at the time.
The Order of Canada recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
