A new collaborative programming model will be launched tonight by the Friends of Sherbrook Pool.

The group is presenting their plans at their annual general meeting and open house.

“The Friends have worked over the years to offer free swimming lessons to more than 2,500 kids,” said Marianne Cerilli, chair of the FOSP board. “We want to expand that success by working with other community partners to plan more unique programs with the City of Winnipeg at Sherbrook Pool.”

The pool closed in 2012 after city engineers found it in desperate need of repair. Since then, the FOSP has identified the desire and need for community input in future programming.

“We have been doing surveys and focus groups to gather community ideas for pool use and a new joint committee will be building on this information to create some exciting new programs for the community,” said Lin Howes, collaborative planning working group chair.

Tonight’s meeting is open to the public and begins at 5 p.m. The open house runs from 6-8 p.m. at the Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre, 430 Langside Street.
