Two Sandy Bay Residents Killed in Portage la Prairie Crash

RCMP Crest LogoTwo people from Sandy Bay First Nation have died in a two-vehicle crash near Portage la Prairie.

The accident happened Wednesday afternoon when a southbound car and northbound pickup truck collided near the intersection of Road 68 North and Road 39 West.

RCMP say both the 50-year-old male driver and his 40-year-old female passenger in the car were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 17-year-old Portage la Prairie boy driving the truck was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His 17-year-old female passenger wasn’t injured.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision, but police continue to investigate.
