A new training centre at the Winnipeg Humane Society will officially open on Monday, September 28.
The Joyce Gauthier Behaviour and Training Centre will allow the WHS to offer more programming, develop relationships with other organizations, and increase the number of educational offerings for youth.
“Dogs will build more confidence in themselves while training in our new centre, which means there’s a better chance they’ll be adopted,” WHS CEO Javier Schwersensky said of the centre.
Opening celebrations include a tricks and training display by the Wild Dogs agility troupe.
The centre will open at 5:30 p.m. with remarks from Jim Gauthier, who made a $1 million donation to the centre in honour of his late wife.
