The Journey to Churchill exhibit at Assiniboine Park Zoo has won a prestigious award for its design.
The zoo picked up the Association of Zoos and Aquariums award for exhibit design in the annual operating budgets over $5 million category. It’s the first Canadian facility to win the award since they were first handed out in 1974.
“It’s a tremendous accomplishment to win such a prestigious award and we’re absolutely thrilled,” said Dr. Brian Joseph with the Assiniboine Park Conservancy. “The opening of Journey to Churchill marked a turning point in the history of Assiniboine Park Zoo and it’s wonderful to be recognized for this important exhibit.”
Past recipients of the award include the Philadelphia Zoo, KidZooU; The Lousiville Zoo, Glacier Run; Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Polar Frontier; The Toledo Zoo, Nature’s Neighbourhood.
