Open mic nights will soon return to the local music scene at The Handsome Daughter.
The free monthly evenings are presented by Manitoba Music and the Winnipeg Folk Festival on the third Tuesday of every month.
The new season kicks off October 20 with singer/songwriter Elessar Thiessen. The full-time producer is an emerging name on the local music scene, trading his studio time by day for musician duties by night. His full-length album, A Rainy Week in Paradise, is out now.
“We’re excited to continue partnering with our friends at the Winnipeg Folk Festival on open mic nights, and to find a new home at The Handsome Daughter,” said Manitoba Music executive director Sean McManus.
“Open mics are where emerging performing songwriters go to cut their teeth.”
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show getting underway at 7 p.m. Minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian. The Handsome Daughter is located at 61 Sherbrook Street.
