WINNIPEG — The Manitoba government is contributing $150 million to the University of Manitoba’s Front and Centre campaign.
The campaign kicked off last November with a goal of raising $500 million. To date, $365,294,636 has been raised through private and corporate donations.
“We know that students want to have access to the best programming and opportunities they can, and that’s why we’re focusing our investments in key priorities areas like innovation, inclusion and teaching excellence,” said Premier Greg Selinger.
“This investment means that Manitoba students can get a world-class, affordable and accessible education right here at home and be ready for the jobs of tomorrow.”
The government announcement was made on Friday during a celebration in the Engineering and Information Technology Centre (EITC) atrium as hundreds of students, staff and faculty cheered on from balconies six floors up.
