The centre has been completely redesigned with the addition of new technology to connect with customers seeking information on the province.
“A new, state-of-the-art visitor information centre at The Forks allows us to give travellers a sample of the immersive experiences our province has to offer,” said Colin Ferguson, president and CEO of Travel Manitoba. “We’ve built a place that welcomes visitors and where our unique experiences come to life.”
Travel counsellors are available to answer tourist’s questions, while visual displays showcase the province’s many stunning views.
No cost figure has been associated with the centre, but the province says with the relocation of Travel Manitoba’s staff to The Forks, the savings are more than $300,000 over 10 years.
“This centre gives us an opportunity to promote the uniqueness, quality and diversity of Manitoba’s tourism experiences,” Tourism, Culture, Heritage, Sport and Consumer Protection Minister Ron Lemieux added.
