A giant 15-foot screen will broadcast the Winnipeg Jets’ home opener on Friday night downtown.
The Exchange District BIZ is setting up the viewing area at the Cube Stage on King Street as the Jets face the Calgary Flames at 7 p.m.
“We are proud to work with local businesses to create a “True North” experience in The Exchange,” said Brian Timmerman, executive director of the Exchange BIZ. “We want to share with Winnipeg, that even in the fall and winter months, there are still many great reasons to visit the Exchange.”
Hockey fans are encouraged to bundle up and bring their own lawn chairs. There will be popcorn for sale on site and 50/50 tickets in support of KidSport Manitoba.
Following the game, or between periods, fans are invited to visit nearby venues for one-night only specials on food and drink. Participating venues include Bodegoes Restaurant (98 Albert Street), King + Bannatyne the Sandwich Shop on the Corner (100 King Street) and Cake-ology (85 Arthur Street).
