Lotto 6/49 Record

Lotto 6/49It’s the biggest jackpot in Canadian lottery history.

Saturday’s Lotto 6/49 is a staggering $64 million — a far reach from the $500,000 jackpot up for grabs on June 12, 1982 when the lottery debuted.

“The Lotto 6/49 jackpot was last won on September 6,” said Andrea Marantz, director of communications at Western Canada Lottery Corporation. “As the jackpot kept rolling over, more people started playing, boosting it even higher. The current $64 million jackpot has carried over 11 times to reach this brand-new record amount.”

Should a single person be lucky enough to win the entire jackpot, it would set a new single Canadian lottery prize record. The previous record was just set on September 25, when a ticket purchased in Ontario won $60 million on the Lotto Max draw.

Every ticket purchased to Saturday’s draw will also include winners in the guaranteed $1 million prize category. The cut-off time for ticket purchases is 9:30 p.m. CT on October 17.
